Me with Deb Sickler, a UMUC faculty member's
wife
who volunteered to be a tour guide. Behind us is Shureimon Gate, the first part
of the castle to be restored (in the 1950s) and the most famous Okinawa landmark.
It appears on the back of Japan's 2000 yen note, introduced in the year 2000
to coincide with the G-8 Summit.
