THE CRAZING SPIDER-HAG.

Another case where a sight gag which even the hard copy reader would have trouble figuring out becomes totally impossible to see as a scan on the Web. The gag is that Father Barfer (Spider-Hag's nephew, by the way), though he is a Catholic priest, has representations of a variety of other religions and philosphies in his office. In the first panel, to the lower left, is a Hindu statue, and behind that is a stained-glass window of Mohammad on the mountain. The books behind him include tomes by Freud, Marx, Andy Rooney, and Jackie Collins. The "Yi Ching" in the secon panel is a Chinese book having to do with a sort of horoscope system. The background of the third column shows a stained-glass window of The Enlightenment of Buddha. In the first panel below the books include the Bhagavad Gita, Nihon Shoki, Kojiki, Mahayana Sutras, and Famous Frogs (if you ever watched Clyde Frog on TV, you know about that one).

"EEEYUP -yup-yup-yup" is Al Delvecchio, a character on the later episodes of Happy Days, who liked to imitate Jimmy Durante.

And yes, the Big Boss's pet, Duchess, is a lobster. YA WANNA MAKE SOMETHIN' OF IT?
